Hobnails have been used since antiquity to protect the soles of boots.
Using the ancient technique of sandcasting we poured molten shibuichi alloy of copper and silver into local Wairarapa beach sand around an authentic vintage hand-forged iron Hobnail to create this unique Pioneers Hobnail Ring.
Due to the copper content of shibuichi it will patina beautifully as it ages! However this can be easily removed with toothpaste if preferred.
