This one-of-a-kind chef knife captures the essence of Wairarapa's forested heritage and the artistry of hand-forged blades.

1084 high-carbon steel delivers outstanding edge retention, sharpness, and resilience for everyday kitchen precision and heavy prep tasks. The fire-blackened, textured surface bears the authentic marks of Benjamin's hammer blows—subtle dimples and forging irregularities that show its handmade origins on the anvil.

The handle is primarily stabilised Wairarapa redwood sourced from historic late-1800s plantings in the region—trees introduced during the pioneering era that have thrived into massive specimens over generations. Prized for its dramatic lightning-bolt grain swirls and warm fiery reds, this wood echoes the resilience of these enduring giants amid New Zealand's landscapes, stabilised for durability, strength, and longevity. A smaller accent piece of stabilised Wairarapa Ocean Beach native driftwood adds weathered coastal texture and contrast, tying the handle to the region's shores and elemental forces.

The hidden tang construction ensures balance and an ergonomic feel.

The Wairarapa Woods Chef Knife is more than a kitchen essential—it's a handcrafted piece that weaves together the stories of Wairarapa's trees and beaches: born from deep rooted forests, storm-shaped shores, and the maker's anvil.
