Benjamin handcrafted this Eldr Puukko bushcraft knife from Damascus go-mai, forged with a high-contrast core of 15N20 and 1084 steels. This layered construction provides reliable edge retention, toughness, and a distinctive fine-grained pattern.
The handle combines warm bronze with shimmering curly redwood sourced from a large giant sequoia stump felled in Masterton. These trees were introduced and planted widely in the region during the late 1800s, with many notable specimens still thriving in the Wairarapa.
It is complemented by driftwood gathered from the wild shores of Ocean Beach on the rugged Palliser Bay coastline. This exposed black-sand stretch, shaped by dramatic cliffs, relentless Pacific swells, and strong currents, deposits weathered driftwood carried from local rivers, forests, or distant sources.
This one-of-a-kind knife comes with a custom belt sheath handcrafted by Marisa from vegetable-tanned leather. Dyed a deep reddish-brown, it features a hand-embossed Northern Star design accented with 24k gold leaf gilding.
