This one-of-a-kind bushcraft knife delivers practical performance rooted in Wairarapa's local materials and traditional puukko utility.
The blade is hand-forged by Benjamin from locally excavated spring steel, offering reliable toughness, edge retention, and sharpness for feathering, carving, food prep, and everyday bush tasks. Subtle forging textures and hammer marks remain, marking its authentic handmade origins.
The handle is stabilised Wairarapa redwood from historic late-1800s plantings—pioneering-era trees that have grown massive in the region. This golden-toned section from the stump features soft, swirling grain in warm honey hues, stabilised for durability and grip. A bolster of beef bone from a nearby farm with a hint on bronze and its hidden tang construction provides strength, balance, and all-day and night field comfort.
It pairs with a custom vegetable-tanned leather belt sheath, handmade by Marisa and finished with pyrographed moth detailing for an artistic touch that hints at the quiet night life of the bush.
The Homestead Puukko is a bushcraft essential—forged from Wairarapa's forests, local farms, and Benjamin's anvil: provenance-driven, field-ready, and built to last.
