Pounamu is protective and traditionally worn to dispel negative energies, giving the wearer strength and power, making it an ideal protective charm.
It also embodies masculine and feminine protection; the tusks of a wild boar defending, a nurturing embrace.
In our home foundry Marisa sand cast this Protection Pendant first in shibuichi alloy of copper and silver around pounamu from Hokitika which Benjamin carved and faceted into shape. Marisa then cast this piece into its protective sterling silver embrace and bound it with braided green waxed thread finished with coppery metallic slipknots making this pendant easily adjustable in length.
The NZ pounamu in this pendant is certified by Ngai Tahu and comes with a certificate of authentication with it's own unique traceability code. When entered online, the code attached to the carving identifies the origin and whakapapa (genealogy) of the stone.
