This one-of-a-kind cleaver captures the timeless character of Wairarapa's forested heritage and the enduring craftsmanship of hand-forged tools.

The blade is forged by Benjamin from W2 tool steel, renowned for its excellent edge-holding and fine grain, delivering robust performance ideal for heavy chopping and kitchen tasks. The surface bears the authentic blackened rustic finish and visible forging hammer blow marks—subtle dimples and textured irregularities that proudly attest to its handmade origins on the anvil.

The handle is crafted from stabilised Wairarapa redwood sourced from historic late-1800s plantings in the region—trees introduced during the pioneering era that have thrived and grown massive over generations. This wood echoes the resilience of these introduced giants amid New Zealand's landscapes, stabilised for durability, strength, and longevity.

The hidden tang construction ensures balance and security, finished with a sterling silver spacer and nickel pin for subtle elegance.

This Rustic Redwood Cleaver is more than a kitchen tool—it's a narrative heirloom blending botanical history with contemporary craftsmanship.
