The materials for this knife rested against the historic Opaki Racecourse stables for more than a century, untouched as motorised vehicles with wheels of alloy and tyres of rubber roared past and the seasons flashed by. Then, one fateful day Benjamin came along and everything changed...

Victorian-era wrought iron tyre—hammer-welded for enduring resilience in colonial New Zealand—now clads a tough 80CrV2 core, accented with nickel shims that reveal striking fibrous grain patterns of old blacksmith work fused with new. A wrought iron bolster echoes that ancient craftsmanship.

The handle, carved from a spoke of the same historic wagon wheel, delivers perfect balance and grip for heavy prep—history literally in hand, forged to become a generational heirloom. The custom display stand, shaped from another section of that weathered spoke, completes the transformation.
