The materials for this knife rested against the historic Opaki Racecourse stables for more than a century, untouched as motorised vehicles with wheels of alloy and tyre's of rubber roared past and the seasons flashed by. Then, one fateful day Benjamin came along and everything changed...

He hand-forged an integral blade with 80CrV2 clad in the salvaged wrought iron, nickel accents highlighting century-old grain. The weathered hardwood handle and custom display stand he shaped from the same weathered wagon spoke.

Once part of a wagon that rolled through Wairarapa's pioneering days and Opaki's racecourse era, this wheel's wrought iron and --wooden spoke now form a powerful chopper—raw strength reborn.
